Wellbeing bags containing essential toiletries and other items have been donated to a rape crisis centre – thanks to the Community Wish List.

Lanarkshire Rape Crisis Centre (LLRC), established 20 years ago, provides practical and emotional support to survivors of sexual violence from age 12 and older.

They appealed to the Wish List for basic essentials such as shampoo, soap, toothbrushes and other essential body care products after noticing an increase in demand and support over and above their basic services.

Unite the Union answered the call by donating £500 through the Community Wish List.

A spokesperson for LLRC said: “We welcome the generous donation from Unite the Union, a contribution to our ongoing vital work across Lanarkshire.

“It was a great opportunity to share with Unite who LRCC are and why being selected for a donation is so meaningful to the centre.

“We are excited to work with them in the future, and we would like to thank the South Lanarkshire Community Wish List for their ongoing support.”

A spokesperson for Unite the Union said: “This donation reflects the branch’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and partnership working across Lanarkshire.

“Trade unions are about more than pay and conditions — we are about people.

“Supporting LRCC aligns with our core belief that everyone deserves safety, respect, and access to compassionate support.

“Unite will continue to champion equality, challenge discrimination, and use its collective strength to stand alongside organisations that work tirelessly to protect and empower women and girls and make a tangible difference across Lanarkshire.”
